Iowa 380
Designated: 1942 or 1943 Decommissioned: 1971
Original northern terminus: Ottumwa Airport
Original southern terminus: US 63 north of Ottumwa
Paving history: The entire road was paved at the time of designation.
Replaced by: IA 389 (II), so the number could be used for I-380.
Iowa 381 (I)
Designated: 1942 or 1943 Decommissioned: November 10, 1953
Original western terminus: IA 84 south of Cedar Rapids (east of the airport)
Original eastern terminus: US 218 south of Cedar Rapids
Paving history: There were no paved segments.
Replaced by: County road (now numbered E70); this one-mile connecting road was decommissioned after US 30 and US 218 were relocated in the Cedar Rapids area.
Iowa 381 (II)
Designated: 1953 Decommissioned: 1980
Original western terminus: IA 254 in northwestern Winnebago County
Original eastern terminus: Rake
Paving history: Unpaved at designation, the road was paved in 1955.
Replaced by: Local road (Grace Street in Rake)
Iowa 382
Designated: 1942 or 1943 Decommissioned: July 1, 2003
Original western terminus: Lake Macbride State Park
Original eastern terminus: IA 1 at Solon
Paving history: Unpaved at designation, it was paved in 1962 (on a new alignment that followed part of the former County Road R and a new road into the north entrance of the park; the old alignment followed present-day 180th Street NE).
Replaced by: County Road F16

Iowa 383
Designated: 1944 Decommissioned: July 1, 2003
Original western terminus: US 69 in southeastern Hamilton County
Original eastern terminus: Randall
Paving history: Unpaved at designation, it was paved in 1951.
Replaced by: County Road D65 and some Randall city streets; IA 383 turned southward while D65 continued eastward to I-35. (According to Jeff Morrison in September 2002, that wasn't all: "Then, after one block, 383 turns west! This last block is Randall's Main Street. Despite the turns, no 383 traffic stops except the turn NB to WB at D65." His terminus photo page has more.)

Iowa 384
Designated: 1944 Decommissioned: July 1, 2003
Original western terminus: IA 25 in northern Guthrie County
Original eastern terminus: Springbrook State Park
Paving history: Unpaved at designation, it was paved in 1959.
Replaced by: County Road F25; this replaced IA 161 (I).

Iowa 385
Designated: 1945 Decommissioned: July 1, 2003
Original western terminus: Pacific Junction
Original eastern terminus: US 34 southwest of Glenwood; on January 26, 1974, it was moved to the interchange with the relocated US 34 and US 275 in Glenwood after the new US 34 opened.
Paving history: Unpaved at designation, the original segment was upgraded from bituminous to paved in 1988. The 1974 extension was entirely paved.
Replaced by: County Roads H36 (east-west segment from Pacific Junction to old US 34) and L35 (former US 34 segment). Although the DOT approved the transfer of IA 385 (along with IA 949 and IA 978) to Mills County on February 18, 2003, the signs were still up on June 16. Jeff Morrison reported that the signs had been taken down by July 6.

Iowa 386
Designated: 1945 Decommissioned: July 1, 2003
Original northern terminus: US 52/IA 3 in Sageville
Original southern terminus: US 52/IA 3 north of Dubuque; in September 2002, after the Northwest Arterial (IA 32) extension was completed, IA 386's south end was slightly realigned to end at the same intersection as IA 32.
Paving history: Unpaved at designation, it was paved in 1955.
Replaced by: County Roads D10 and Y35, locally known as John Deere Road. IA 386 had no directional markers on its entire route, mostly because of the change of direction it took midway through the route. From the northern terminus it ran northeastward to the John Deere Dubuque Works (that segment is now D10), and from there it turned due southward to the other junction with US 52/IA 3 (that segment is now Y35).

Paving history: There were no paved segments.
Replaced by: Extension of IA 317

Original western terminus: Davenport Municipal Airport
Original eastern terminus: US 61 in Mount Joy, serving the now-defunct Caterpillar plant along the way
Paving history: The entire road was paved at the time of designation.
Replaced by: County Road F55

Original western terminus: Calumet
Original eastern terminus: US 59 in southern O'Brien County
Paving history: Unpaved at designation, the road was paved in 1948.
Replaced by: City streets (2nd Street in Calumet)

Designated: 1946 Decommissioned: 1961
Original western terminus: Wild Cat Den State Park
Original eastern terminus: US 61 (later IA 22) in eastern Muscatine County
Paving history: Unpaved at designation, the road had a bituminous segment at decommissioning.
Replaced by: Unnumbered county road; replacement for IA 160 (I).
Iowa 389 (II)
Designated: 1971 Decommissioned: 1997
Original western terminus: Ottumwa Industrial Airport
Original eastern terminus: US 63 north of Ottumwa
Paving history: The entire road was paved at the time of designation.
Replaced by: Local roads, upon completion of the nearby US 63 expressway segment. (North of the airport the road continued as County Road V3H and the east end continued as V5H, but there is no route signage along the road.) It replaced IA 380.

Original eastern terminus: IA 10 in northeastern Buena Vista County
Paving history: The entire road was paved at the time of designation.
Replaced by: Local road (Buena Vista County called it "Highway 390" in its rural street numbering system until at least 2003 but by 2009 the road had become 215th Avenue)

This was the designation for the bypassed former US 218 segment through Plainfield, bisected by IA 188, after the four-lane bypass opened. Although it was turned over to local jurisdictions at a DOT meeting on February 18, 2003, transfer was delayed because of road resurfacing and sideroad issues; the actual transfer was completed by November 1, 2003.

Original northern terminus: Clinton Municipal Airport
Original southern terminus: US 30 on the west edge of Clinton
Paving history: Unpaved at designation, it was paved in 1957.
Replaced by: City street (60th Street in Clinton)

Original northern terminus: Dubuque Regional Airport
Original southern terminus: US 61 south of Dubuque

Iowa 392 (II)
This unsigned highway was assigned to the former segment of IA 163 through Prairie City that was bypassed on September 3, 1998; it was turned over to local jurisdictions in 2000.

Original southern terminus: Ionia
Paving history: Unpaved at designation, the road was paved in 1960.
Replaced by: County Road V14; this replaced IA 330 (I).
Iowa 394 (I)
Designated: 1948 Decommissioned: 1980
Original northern terminus: The south entrance to the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant north of Augusta
Original southern terminus: IA 16 in northeastern Lee County
Paving history: Unpaved at designation, it was paved in 1960.
Replaced by: County Road X38; it replaced part of IA 16 upon relocation.
Iowa 394 (II)
Designated: 1980 Decommissioned: 2004
Original northern terminus: US 218 south of Donnellson
Original southern terminus: Missouri state line (Des Moines River) at St. Francisville, MO; it crossed a privately-owned toll bridge and continued southward as "state supplementary" Route B.
Paving history: The entire road was paved at the time of designation.
Replaced by: IA 27. IA 394, which replaced the former County Road W68 in 1980, was multiplexed with IA 27 after its commissioning in 2001. However, all IA 394 signs along the route were removed after the opening of the Donnellson and Argyle bypasses (both parts of the Avenue of the Saints) in February 2004. The bypassed segments carried the IA 460 designation until the transfer of jurisdiction became final.

Paving history: The entire road was paved at the time of designation.
Replaced by: County Road V18; it was created after US 6 was relocated to the north of Brooklyn. This road was part of US 6 for a year before that.

Original southern terminus: IA 74 (II), most recently IA 94, in western Linn County
Paving history: The entire road was paved at the time of designation.
Replaced by: Local road (1st Street in Palo)
