It was originally designated as a spur from Protivin to US 52, utilizing what is now B16 west of Spillville, but Protivin wanted a direct connection to Cresco instead, so the Highway Commission agreed to truncate 325 at Spillville and extend IA 139 southward a day later. The DOT approved transfer of the road to the city on October 14, 2003, but the transfer was not completed until sometime in 2005. |

Designated: September 4, 1935, as a spur from US 59 eastward to Northboro Paving history: There were no paved segments at designation. The segment west of US 59 was paved in 1964 and decommissioned after that. The segment between US 59 and the Fremont/Page county line was paved in 1976, six years after it was given to Fremont County, while the segment in Page County remained gravel until it was paved (and subsequently decommissioned) in 1980. | This designation was given to the former segment of US 34 from Ottumwa through Agency to the junction with IA 16 north of Eldon that was bypassed when a new four-lane segment opened in October 2006. While it appeared as a black line on the 2007 state transportation map, it appeared as a county road on the DOT's Wapello County PDF map dated January 1, 2007, implying a turnover to local jurisdictions. |
