One segment was west of Fort Madison where US 61 makes a southwestward turn, and the other was north of Montrose. | This number was given to two former segments of IA 28 after a realigned segment opened on August 11, 2000. One of them was bisected by Army Post Road in Des Moines, near the Register's production facility; the other was bisected by County Line Road in Norwalk. (The IA 5 freeway broke it into two segments.) Des Moines took over its share in 2001. The segment in Norwalk still appeared on the Iowa DOT's Polk and Warren county maps as late as the January 1, 2010, editions, but it was removed from the DOT's map of Norwalk dated January 25, 2011. |
